animal crossing is a really wonderful game that i'm currently obsessing over. if you've never heard of it, animal crossing is a video game series that centers around life in a peaceful village with a colourful cast of villagers along with several small shops and other attractions that grow the more you play. the player gets to catch bugs and fish, dig up all sorts of fossils, and collect fruit from trees around the village.
in the newest installment in the series, animal crossing: new horizons, i named my island jupiter. my first two villagers were mott and pashmina and my native fruit were apples. i was greeted by tom nook, a rather entrepreneurial tanuki, along with his two young nephews timmy and tommy. over the next couple of days, more villagers and other animals made their way onto jupiter. there's blathers, the owl that curates the museum (he absolutely hates insects but adores fish and fossils). there are also sable and mable, two hedgehog sisters that run the local tailor shop (the third sister, label, is a traveling fashion designer that occasionally visits). many more interesting characters could be mentioned, but the list would go on and on and on, so i'll stop here.
